From Santa Fe, New Mexico, where I am spending the month of August. If you have never been you should definitely put it on your list. A creative mix of arts, science and spirituality. People are ‘drawn’ here to co-create new realities.
Well it’s been an ‘epic’ week! It started with attending a performance at the world renowned open-air Opera of Santa Fe – a new opera called Adriana Mater, about the choice: to continue the devastation of ‘conflict’ OR radical forgiveness and bridge-making of souls. The location and setting were ‘out of this world’!
Then I met Barbara Marx Hubbard! I attended her talk on ‘The Joy of Supra-Sex’ don’t you love it… Barbara is founder of the movement called Conscious Evolution. You can read more about her in my Feature below. But just to tempt you. It’s all about the Law of Attraction, bringing people together for a higher purpose to work through them. And she had us all in rapture! All of 80, Barbara is one of the most vibrant and energetic women I have ever met. A true inspiration of someone following her passion.
I then got to attend Barbara’s weekend on Conscious Leadership at Hummingbird Community (more about Hummingbird soon). It was a transformational experience of co-creative teamwork, the core for me being each of us ‘taking authority’ for our unique gifts to the world. You will hear more soon about what transpired out of this gathering. But for now, look what appeared in the sky as we were leaving. Don’t you love those messages from Nature.
So I thought I would share with you some of the inspiration behind Ankya Design.
I always love a good mystery and finding out how things work. Some years ago, having closed my natural therapies practice, I went on a journey of discovery out of which my images were birthed. Much of this journey involved my curiosity for indigenous culture and traditions. I see my images as a bridge between indigenous traditions and our contemporary world. A way of being in the world where you feel your connection with nature. Not separate but part of. Our true source of power comes from our connection with all that is.
Man of Fire is here to stay
His fix is quite simple I’d say
Just plug in direct to the cosmic ray!
No need for other substances
To break free of his skin
He just switches to universal
Energy supply
It shoots direct into his intuitive mind
And renders him totally blind
To his social conditioning
It makes him free
Of his personality
To live abundantly
His true potentiality
His very unique gifts to share
With this world so fair
His heart is alight with
Cosmic fire

Living harmoniously…
So lets build bridges between man and nature, man and woman, cultures, heart and mind. Balancing opposites for peace. When we create bridges we find pathways to resolve our challenges. What bridges would you like to build in your life?
Excerpt from Barbara Marx Hubbard’s 1984 acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention when her name was placed in nomination for Vice President of the United States.
After the use of atomic bombs in World War II, Barbara Marx Hubbard at the age of 22 asked President Eisenhower, “What is the meaning of all our new powers that is good?”
Eisenhower replied, “I have no idea.”
Barbara replied, “Then we’d better find out.”
Thus began the journey for the creation of the White House Solutions Council. For 60 years Barbara has held the vision for the formation of a peace room as sophisticated as our war room. Meanwhile our country has been unable to solve the growing problems that have led us to the crises we’re currently facing. Our goal is to establish a center that will seek common goals and match needs and resources for the implementation of creative problem solving. Out of the breakdowns in our society we see breakthroughs in every field: health, education, environment, economics, government, etc. The White House Solutions Council would be a clearinghouse to seek new ideas for the betterment of humanity. The Citizens Solutions Council believes that with change imminent, a new administration can be empowered during this convention to implement this vision.

What’s Working in America
As America is poised at the threshold of political change, the citizens of our country are looking for solutions to the critical issues confronting our nation. The Citizens Solutions Council is proposing to re-energize the office of the Vice President and add a function to focus on innovations that can become the basis for the change our nation is demanding. Every citizen can contribute to this Center to help connect and communicate these positive solutions to resolve our current problems.
We propose the White House Solutions Council be established in the Office of the Vice President to encourage and highlight the creativity of the American people.
The White House Solutions Council will become a clearinghouse to match needs and resources for social innovations, solutions and projects that are already working in the fields of education, health, environment, economics etc.
Databases of empirical solutions are growing by the day. The Vice President’s office would provide a home for the marriage of human creativity and economic implementation.
Therefore, just as a simple comment to John F. Kennedy initiated the birth of the Peace Corps, the Citizens Solution Council proposes at this convention that the next administration create the White House Solutions Council as a new function for the office of the Vice President.
Most social problems have been solved by someone, somewhere, but the solutions are not widely known. With the help of the media and the instantaneous power of the Internet, these solutions can become reality.
Thanks to the Big Tent for providing the venue where this concept will be brought forth and inspire the grassroots movement that will promote greater creativity in problem solving for our future government.

It is our intention to make a similar presentation at the Republican National Convention in September.

Santa Fe resonates to the energy of the Mother and is a meeting place for souls in transformation. I am blessed to be attending a gathering with Barbara Marx Hubbard this weekend on Evolutionary Leadership.
Here also is the Mandala that is centrepiece at ‘Celebration’ a weekly gathering of Community in Santa Fe. Sharing lives and vision for a peaceful world. I was so excited to see the symbol of the mother goddess on it. The same one I travel around with in my purse always. She represents belonging to the earth and being safe and secure in her love. Traditionally she is ‘hand sized’ and held like a comforter in the left hand. You can find a link to Colin Heaney’s wonderful goddesses on my site.
On the Mandala you can also see a ‘leafy’ infinity sign – the symbol for this abundance, the perfect balance of giving and receiving. And did you know the ‘infinity’ sign appeared in a field in Wiltshire, UK just this week on the 8th of the 8th of the 8th.

Balancing the right and left sides of the brain are what marrying words with images achieves. The ‘ancients’ knew this. They decorated their sacred ‘spaces’ with art to communicate collective wisdom. For a long time now our society has favoured a more masculine linear left brain way of doing things to a feminine circular right brain way of being. Writing has been favoured over ‘pictures’, using our dominant right hand to write.
The computer allows us to access both sides of our brains, when we use both our hands at the same time. It enables you to connect your head with your heart and this creates a balance between your analytical and intuitive mind. What an amazing time to be alive right now, with the tool of the World Wide Web to connect us all, heart to mind.
When you were a kid you had ‘picture’ books. And wasn’t that fun to experience those beautiful images to accompany the wonderful words. Somehow as adults we have been taught that ‘pictures’ are not ‘grown-up’! Yet, a picture’s meaning can express ten thousand words. This is because an image has a very direct impact on your consciousness.
If you have a ‘question’ in your life you are having difficulty answering with your logical mind, try taking some crayons and paper and ‘drawing’ the feeling of your question. You will find that your intuitive mind will reveal to you magically the perfect solution for you, expressed in symbolic form.
